Welcome to the Annapolis Valley Music Festival
Nestled in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, The Annapolis Valley Music Festival is an annual Music Festival that has been held annually in Wolfville, Nova Scotia since 1978.
Annually, the Festival provides musical learning opportunities to over 3000 competitors of all ages from across the province. We provide four levels of competition (Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Open) to students studying piano, voice, string, guitar, woodwinds, brass, fiddle, bands, choirs, mixed ensembles and musical theatre. Additionally, we have added classes for Singer Song Writers and Harpsichord. ration arranges a Provincial Music Festival that provides three levels of live solo competitions for piano, voice, strings, guitar, woodwinds, brass and musical theatre. There are also competitions for small/chamber groups.
Competitions at the local level lead to competitions at the Provincial level which, in turn lead to a National Music Festival. We encourage the exploration of music of all types, including Canadian and Indigenous works.
2024 Festival
April 22-26
Denton Hall & Festival Theatre, Wolfville
Registration will open January 1 and run through to March 31, 2024
Stars of the Festival April 27 at 2 pm
Due to the economic constraints on travel for bands ALL band classes will be done in a live stream format where each band gets a one on one with the adjudicator... how cool is that! Choirs will have the option to perform live, or to enter the virtual version of their class.
Here are some important changes for 2024:
- AVMF no longer has access to two pianos, so all piano duo/ensemble classes requiring more than 1 piano are cancelled until further notice.
- AVMF does not have access to choral risers this year, unless a school wishes to loan us a set (that would be amazing!). As a result, choirs will be performing on the tiered stairs at Festival Theatre. (We realize that this is not ideal, but it's all we can do in the present situation)
- The location for the Stars of the Festival concert is currently TBA, due to financial constraints on the festival related to increased rental costs.
- All registrations this year will be going through Auditionware. We encourage parents/students/ensembles to create their free Auditionware account in advance, as it will make registration a breeze if it is already complete. You may complete this step now by visiting www.auditionware.com
